Fred Armisen's Dream 'Portlandia' Guest: Woody Allen → huffingtonpost.com

huffpostent:

We spoke to the “Portlandia” star about his show, the famous guest stars, playing Barack Obama and his dream of having Woody Allen on the show. We told him we’d get a campaign going, so how about some viral support.

Also, he says he loves all of you.

Running Chicken: Really?! → kohenari.net

politicalprof:

kohenari:

Someone tell me, honestly, are we all really going to pretend that Rick Santorum is a viable candidate for President of the United States?

— Ari Kohen (@kohenari)

Here are some quotations from Santorum that led me to ask the above question, helpfully compiled by The…

I would only add that Santorum loves big government when it forces you to live what he thinks is a moral life. Or distributes funds to his constituents. Just not when it helps poor people or minorities….

“In Iowa last month, Gingrich said the following: “And we now give it [food stamps] away as cash — you don’t get food stamps. You get a credit card, and the credit card can be used for anything. We have people who take their food stamp money and use it to go to Hawaii. They give food stamps now to millionaires because, after all, don’t you want to be compassionate? In fact, as Politifact pointed out, food stamps cannot be “used for anything,” as Gingrich claimed. Food stamp benefits are now loaded on to an electronic benefits transfer card, or EBT, similar to a debit card. Recipients can only purchase certain grocery items with the card. Beer and wine, for example, aren’t allowed. They cannot be used to purchase airline tickets to “go to Hawaii.” Gingrich is also wrong that “They give food stamps now to millionaires.” Only individuals and families with incomes below 130 percent of the poverty line are eligible to receive food stamps. That does not include millionaires.” —

This is just an example of how clueless some people running for office are.

How are so many people who clearly have no clue how anything in our government actually works running for office? Shouldn’t there be, like, an entrance test? Like the SATs of serving your country.

ALSO I ran into the grocery store to grab a few items last night and was behind this young woman who had WIC. And it wasn’t even the plastic cards - she actually had paper coupon/check like things. And they were specific for various items. To the point that it wouldn’t let her get 1/2 the baby food she had picked up, because it doesn’t allow mixed food options.

People are not on things like WIC and food stamps because it’s just so easy.

Intentional lying while in or running for public office about social issues or policy should be a prosecutable offense which carries a mandatory prison sentence.

“Our day has been hectic, hers is too, just as long as she makes it home, just as long as she gets here.” —Johnisa Turner • Discussing the fate of her 15-year-old daughter, Jakadrien Lorece Turner, who returned to the U.S. on Friday after mistakenly getting deported from the country in May. Jakadrien, a runaway, apparently used a fake name that just happened to be that of an undocumented immigrant from Colombia, leading to the deportation. The U.S. government and Colombian government have gone back and forth over who was at fault for the deportation — with many concerned the U.S. didn’t do due diligence when deporting the girl. source (via • follow)

Robert Reich: The GOP Ticket in 2012: Romney-Rubio → robertreich.org

Robert Reich’s GOP 2012 party ticket prediction—I love it!

Since my New Year’s prediction that Obama would select Hillary Clinton for his running mate in 2012 (and Joe Biden would become Secretary of State), I’ve been swamped by requests for my GOP prediction. Here goes.

You can forget the caucuses and early primaries. Mitt Romney will be the nominee….

zaedilux: this is awesome

let’s be honest with each other. the only reason we’re not fucking each other’s brains out is because i refuse to let you come any closer than you already are. we’re both playing with each other and i don’t know what it’s going to take for us to get burned. we’re already being licked by flames of…
